Many years ago I used to do a lot of cross stitch projects and I have used back stitch and blanket stitch occasionally, but I have never really learnt many of the other embroidery stitches. Thank you to Amanda, from 3 and 3 quarters, for allowing me to use her  video which gives very clear demonstrations of seven basic stitches: back stitch, split stitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, blanket stitch, satin stitch and French knots. I am looking forward to trying them all out….perhaps making a sampler.  There is something quite relaxing about quietly sitting and mindfully stitching by hand. These days my eyesight is such that I prefer to do it during daylight hours.  A perfect excuse to find a sunny spot in my rocking chair on the front verandah of my little country cottage. Aah, doesn’t that invoke a quaint image?!
